Michigan football memories and more from a New Yorker's perspective.

Iโ€™ve been making football predictions for years, but this year, Iโ€™m making them on my blog, and โ€œsharingโ€ them onto social media, which may take a slight adjustment. And yes, thereโ€™s an important footnote.*

The college football season starts off in Ireland for two old foes, Kansas State and Iowa State, who play in a rivalry game thatโ€™s been dubbed โ€œFarmageddon.โ€ Things should be a bit chillier in Ireland than in the heartland of the United States, and that could make things difficult for Kansas State QB Avery Johnson. Fortunately for Johnson, Kansas Stateโ€™s new offensive line coach is pretty sharp. Brian Lepak served as the tight ends coach for Kansas State for the last three years, and heโ€™ll find a way to get Johnson the protection he needs. I think Kansas State will beat Iowa State in a nail biter to start the season.

A little further west, Hawaii hosts Stanford. Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Frank Reich takes over as Stanfordโ€™s new coach. Reich made his name by leading Buffalo to a legendary comeback victory, but that was in the NFL. Hawaii has a deceptive home field advantage, largely due to the fatigue that the traveling team endures to get to Hawaii. I think that fatigue will take its toll on the Stanford defense in the second half, leading to a Hawaii victory.
