Michigan football memories and more from a New Yorker's perspective.

Itโ€™s tough to figure out Jeff Monken teams. Sometimes, theyโ€™re incredibly gritty and tough. Other times, teams can overwhelm them. Why? Well, the Cadets are very tough due to their discipline, resilience, and conditioning. On the other hand, they usually donโ€™t have many elite football players, so theyโ€™ll have some trouble at times.

When Army played Tarleton State, the Black Knights threw for only 131 yards, and that contributed to their defeat. One week later, the Black Knights showed impressive tenacity against Kansas State, which led to a comeback win.

On Saturday, Army hosts North Texas. In this one, North Texas has shown the ability to score points in droves. I think that will be the deciding factor.

Texas Tech travels to Salt Lake City to face Utah. Both teams are off to 3-0 starts, and have been impressive on both offense and defense. The crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium provides an underrated home-field advantage in college football. This should lead Utah to the crunch. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham will take the air out of the ball. Utah will use long drives to keep Texas Techโ€™s offense off the field and the Utes get a critical win.ย

On the surface, North Carolina State appears to have a much better team than Duke. However, football is a interesting game, and good defense can keep a game close. I think the Duke defensive line will make things for the Wolfpack, and North Carolina State quarterback C.J. Bailey will have a tough time developing a rhythm. It wonโ€™t be pretty, but Duke will get a win that will save the season.ย

North Texas 33, Army 21 (NT -3; O/U: 50.5)

Utah 31, Texas Tech 27 (U -3; O/U: 57.5)

Duke 28, North Carolina State 25 (D -2.5; O/U: 59.5)
